Kids Act acting classes for children in North County San Diego, created and taught by Aleta Barthell
Classes are taught at locations in Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Carmel Valley, with performances at the class sites and in the theater at the
Dove Library in Carlsbad.
Kids Act classes are more than fun: they help develop your child's self-confidence, creativity, and ability to work with others. Each child is encouraged to step forward and shine in an atmosphere of respect and trust. Class sizes are small, and everyone participates.
Kids play games, create characters, invent stories, and put on a performance for friends and family. Aleta has adapted her own professional training to build a play-based program - kids have fun while they learn. Kids Act is process-oriented, emphasizing creativity, self-expression, cooperation, and developing the skills needed to bring ideas to life. These valuable life skills are transferable to many other activities as your child grows and finds his or her way in the world. While the focus is not on professional development, Kids Act does impart core acting skills which are applicable to stage, film, and commercial work (page of "success stories" coming soon). Your kids won't notice that - they'll be busy playing games, making up characters and stories together, and acting them out!

Whether your child is meant to be on stage, or needs a little more confidence speaking in front of their classmates, Kids Act is there to motivate, inspire and enrich. Students are introduced to improvisational skills through theater games and help to adapt a classic children’s story for a performance on the last day of class.

Create your own characters and play in this 5 day camp.
Students will learn improvisational skills through theater games, a short piece of Shakespeare's verse, and finally create their own characters, scenery and original play. Students will perform for family and friends on the last day of camp.

Theater develops great skills!
Theatre develops great skills! Discover the fundamentals of improvisational skits, improve your storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on your feet and to be more creative. Through vocal and physical warm ups, theater games, drama activities, and coaching, students will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting and cooperative and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. Encourage your child’s creative self-expression and confidence!
